What's New in the 2020 Toyota Corolla?

Just one year after introducing the Corolla hatchback, Toyota has totally redesigned the sedan version for 2020. The exterior styling is sleeker than ever before, and the inside is both stylish and loaded with quality materials. Smartphone connectivity now comes standard with Apple CarPlayTM, and the car's list of safety systems has expanded with features like traffic sign recognition. Under the hood, the standard 4-cylinder engine returns with extra horsepower.

The 2020 Corolla can carry five occupants in both the sedan and hatchback versions, with well-cushioned seating across two rows. Toyota's abundance of safety tech lets you drive with peace of mind, and your youngest passengers can ride securely with two user-friendly sets of LATCH car seat connections. If you'd like to enhance the updated interior, you can choose from a variety of available cabin features like a power-adjustable driver's seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, simulated leather upholstery, front sport seats, heated front seats, and more.

The Corolla's infotainment system comes with a touchscreen that reacts promptly to your inputs, and available tech features include Bluetooth®*, a Wi-Fi hotspot, voice recognition, satellite radio, and other amenities. Available safety features include automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection, and more.

The body style you select will determine the available cargo capacity. The sedan's trunk offers 13 cubic feet for storage, while the hatchback's storage area provides 17.8 cubic feet. You can also fold the hatchback's rear seats for up to 23.3 cubic feet.

You'll enjoy a silky-smooth ride thanks to the Corolla's updated suspension system, and the compact is ready for busy highway travel as well as the everyday errand run. You have a couple of powertrain options for the 2020 model, and both demonstrate the excellent gas mileage that Toyota is known for. The base arrangement is a 139-horsepower 4-cylinder paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. If you're looking for extra energy, you can opt for the available inline 4-cylinder that pushes 169 horsepower. This engine can be paired with either the CVT or an optional six-speed manual.

History of the Toyota Corolla

The Corolla made its North American debut in 1968, thrilling U.S. drivers with its reliable engineering, cabin comfort, and overall affordability. The original model was available as both a sedan and station wagon. Toyota has been listening out for driver feedback for the very beginning, and when they heard the call for a larger vehicle, they responded with a notably bigger redesign in the 1970s.

As driver interests changed, the Corolla adapted to them, and the 1980s saw a number of design updates and new developments. During this decade, the Corolla established itself as one of the most in-demand vehicles on earth, providing an undeniably attractive combination of safety, reliability, comfort, and value.

The sedan was fully redesigned in 2020, starting a new generation with the latest in safety and driver assistance technology, along with a host of other advanced features.
